Funding will help purchase uniforms and runners for homeless and disadvantaged people who attend the Big Issue "Geelong Street Soccer' project. The project brings participants together allowing them to get fit, develop friendships, have fun, and receive support and advice.
The Big Issue is dedicated to supporting and creating job opportunities for homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people. The Street Soccer project promotes social inclusion and personal change for participants by providing support and promoting participation, inclusion and commitment. Staff work closely with players, linking them to services that address issues including homelessness, substance abuse, family breakdown and mental illness.
